George Gresham

George Gresham peacfully departed from this life on May 9, 2017. He was born on April 10, 1938 in Coos Bay, Oregon to Vanita Irene and Jefferson Bryon Gresham. He was raised by his step-father George Paul Chapman, whom he considered his father.

George graduated from Marshfield High School, in Coos Bay, Oregon, in 1956.

He played on the state championship football teams and also ran track. He worked for the Department of Forestry in Oregon, and ended his career as a surveyor for Lane County, Oregon.

George decided to attend Caltsop Community College in Astoria, Oregon at the age of 35. He was elected the student body president and served a one year term.

George's greatest enjoyment came from being in the outdoors. He had countless backpacking trips and many of them with his backpacking buddy, Dr. Mack Boelling.

George was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He served in many capacities and his favorite was serving as a temple ordinance worker in the Logan Temple.  George played the harmonica and enjoyed playing at family and church gatherings.

He will be missed by his surviving nieces, nephews and half sister, Darlene Philips. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Irene Smith (Warren), William Gresham (Evelyn), Lorene Sims (Jim), and Kenneth Gresham (Brunhilda).

The funeral will be held at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel in Pocatello, Idaho on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at the Inkom Cemetery, Inkom, Idaho.

We would like to sincerely thank Scott Valgardson, nurse @ AFI Hospice, Heather Reeves, the director of Sunridge Assisted Living along with her loving, kind and caring staff.
