Fred Bernard Middendorf, born November 3rd, 1930 passed away on January 20th, 2016 in Everett, WA. Fred was born the sixth child to Birdie Ione Hendricks and Frederick Bernhardt Middendorf in Pocatello, Idaho.
Fred was a member of the LDS church, a graduate of Pocatello High School and attended Idaho State University.
Married to Donna Crawford in 1952, Fred was blessed with two children, Frederick Karston and Jacqueline Marie.
He is preceded in death now by his parents and siblings; Fred Milo, Bernice, Fred Martin Middendorf, Gladys Birdie Trimming and Gailya Marie Cornelison, his beloved wife Donna and son Frederick Karston Middendorf.
He is survived by daughter, Jacqueline Marie Middendorf Wilkins and his grandchildren Andrew, Lauren, and Christopher Wilkins with whom he currently lived in Washington.
Fred leaves a legacy of love sparked by humor, creativity, and spiritual strength among family.
In Pocatello, he took over Middendorf Flower Shop at age 19. Married, Fred and Donna moved to Las Vegas and leased Ruby for Flowers, purchasing Dot’s Flower Shop in 1954. Fred became a member of FTD, Las Vegas Rotary International, Elks Club, Boys Club, and Boy Scouts of America volunteering his time and service to the community. For 35+ years, Fred teamed with his wife to bring joy into millions of hearts, acknowledge the tears of sorrow and personal suffering, and provide acknowledgement for the human condition. Where words often failed, he would encourage all to “Say it with Flowers.”
Fred will be lovingly remembered by numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and cousins from multiple families including the Abbott, Clarks, Cornelison, Hein, Horrocks, Kaelamakia, Loveland, Southard, Thayer, Trimming, Williams and Wilkins.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will meet with friends from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. prior to graveside services.
