Frank Nolan Hough

Frank Nolan Hough, beloved father, grandpa and friend, quietly left this life in the early morning hours on Saturday, September 23, 2017, after a swift and sudden battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Frank was born July 30,1942, in Pocatello, Idaho, the son of Frank Harry and Mary Selena Larsen Hough.

He graduated from Pocatello High School, and for over a decade worked in the family business, Pocatello Furniture, as an upholsterer. An avid outdoorsman and selftaught taxidermist, he owned and operated Powderhorn Taxidermy for 50 years. Clients became dear and life-long friends. Born 100 years too late, he relished the simple things in life, and was happiest on the back of his mule in the mountains, hunting with his kids and grandkids. He knew his animals as well as he knew people. His ability to outwalk anyone in the mountains is legendary. A skilled marksman, he tied the world record in silhouette shooting and hosted the first event ever held in Idaho.

He pitched for the Pocatello Electrics fast pitch team for 10 years, leading them to 9 championships. When his kids got older, he coached multiple little league teams and helped with the MVHS boys baseball team. He later coached the MVHS girls fast pitch team for 18 years, winning many district titles and a state championship. He was proud to have helped over a dozen girls go on to play college softball. There has never been, nor ever will be, another man like Frank Hough.

He will be dearly missed by his five children: Julene (Gary Judd), Jackie, Jeff (Debbie), Wendy (Lance Elison), and Brad, as well as his 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and his sister Darlene (Duane) Samuelson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at 1:00pm, at the McCammon LDS Stake Center. Friends and family may visit Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the McCammon LDS Stake Center, or Wednesday morning from 12:00- 12:30pm, before the service. Interment will be in the Norton Cemetery, adjacent to the McCammon Stake Center, under the care of the Manning Wheatley Funeral Chapel of Pocatello, Idaho.
