Pocatello - Floyd Charles Schubert, 66, longtime resident of Pocatello, passed away Monday, March 1, 2010 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born August 14, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of Alden D. and Elva A. Clark Schubert.

He parents moved to Pocatello when he was a young boy. He attended schools in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School, class of 1962. He then attended Idaho State University where he received a BS Degree in General Engineering in 1979. He was a member of the Amateur Astronomy Club. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He built the home he lived in, including the cabinets, railings and most of the furniture. He liked fishing and very much enjoyed traveling especially to see the natural wonders and parks such as Glacier National Park, Grand Canyon, Devils Tower, Mt. Rushmore and Custer's Last Stand National Monument. Floyd worked at FMC for 27 years in custodial services. Floyd served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1967 and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was very patriotic and loved his country and was proud to have served. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include: a brother, Gary L. Schubert, Sutters Creek, California; a sister-in-law, Beverly Van Brunt, Pocatello, Idaho; nephews, Jake (Kate) Schubert, Chubbuck, Idaho; David Schubert, Knoxville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside funeral services will held Friday, March 5, 2010 at 12 noon in Mountainview Cemetery (Section 52 West) with military rites performed by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave.
