Elton Lewis Zundel passed away Friday, October 29, as a result of an auto accident, at age 67. He was born in 1953 on Valentine’s day, the fourth child of Dwight Lewis and Betty Jean Richardson Zundel. He arrived home from the hospital to three excited siblings, Erwin Richard, Karen Jean, and Deanna Eva.
He later graduated from Pocatello High School in 1971, and the following year was called to serve an L.D.S. mission in Chicago, Illinois. After his return, he continued working with his father at Zundel’s Radio. He attended Idaho State University where he received an associate’s degree in economics and political science.
In June of 1999 he married Carene Neibaur in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were later divorced. His children, Tiffany Jensen and Michael Molder were the love of his life. The icing on the cake were his six grandchildren: Emily (BT), Dallie (JoJo), Yance, and Kye (Pepper), Tiffany’s children. And Kassidie and Kason, Michael’s children.
He liked being involved locally in politics and even made a bid for County Commissioner. He later worked and earned his real estate license and was working for Keller Williams at the time of his death.
Elton loved baseball and organized a team sponsored by Zundel’s Radio. He pitched, coached, and anything else that was needed. Another favorite hobby was boating. He may have even loved it more than baseball. He took innumerable scouts, young men, nieces, nephews, cousins and anyone else, any excuse to get on the water.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Jean Zundel, brother Erwin Richard (Karen), Karen Jean Thurston (Dennis), and Deanna Eva Long (David), daughter Tiffany (Logan) Jensen and son Michael Molder, and six grandchildren. Elton is missed already, and much loved, and continued strong in his faith. We will see you again, Elton.
