Pocatello- Dayle Walker Dunkley, was born Feb. 5, 1930, the son of Lorin Richard and Viola Pratt Dunkley in their home in Whitney, Idaho. Dayle was the 4th of six children.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Verdena Seamons Dunkley, his children, Roxanne (Bruce) Petrell; Marchelle (Chad) Sellers; Mirashon (Tom) Bonds; Tessa (Mitch) Mason; Nanette (Paul) Clark; Tonya (JR) Ryan; Tanyon (Kari) Dunkley; Joseph (Jennifer) Dunkley; 26 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Dayle was raised on a farm in Whitney, Idaho. He was involved in The Future Farmers of America. He was most proud of his grand champion and blue ribbon black angus cows that he raised and his favorite horse "Pint".
He served a LDS mission to Redding, California. After returning, he studied at BYU for one year before marring Verdena Seamons in the Logan LDS Temple in 1953. They raised their eight children first in Utah then moved to California in 1967. Dayle was self employed in the dairy business as well as sales. He loved selling Bibles, Encyclopedia Britannica and insurance.
He was a faithful Latter-day Saint. He served in many callings, but he loved to teach the most. He taught the gospel doctrine, worked as a 70's group leader, ward mission leader, and taught High Priest. In his later years, he loved working with his wife as ordinance workers in the Los Angeles Temple for 18 years.
Dayle and Verdena moved to Pocatello, Idaho in 2007, where they have lived in the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Marchelle and Chad Sellers. Dayle has suffered through many health problems, but has enjoyed being close to children and grandchildren and great grand children. Dayle passed away Saturday, August 21st 2010 surrounded by loving family, who will miss him, but know that his suffering has ended and they will see him again in a much better place.
