Darlene Banta our beloved mother and grandmother passed away on March 28, 2016 at home in Pocatello Idaho.
Darlene was born September 22, 1930 in Sweetwater Oklahoma to John and Bertha Ong.
In her early working years, she was a nursing home assistant and latter on managed assisted living homes for the elderly. She took great pride in this work and enjoyed helping those in her care.
Darlene enjoyed spending time with her grand children and great grand children and spent many hours and days watching over them. The hobbies, witch she loved dearly, were camping, traveling, needle work and cooking. She left with her family members many treasures of her art work, needle work, and cooking recipes.
Darlene is survived by her son Randy Banta and his wife Glenda, her son Doug Banta and his wife Rose, her daughter Kathy Cole and her husband Richard, and her deceased son Rod’s wife Brenda Green. She was also survived by, her brother’s Ray and Donna Ong, Gene and Joan Ong. Her grand children Anmarie and Gerard Perkins, Mistie and Jason Manning, Leann Banta and Aron Bodenhamer, Jim and Alyssa Banta, Christie and Mark Hoff, Caroline Hysell, and Claudia and Cecily Cole. Great grand children Bailey, Lilley, Naomi, Myles, Cassidy, Edie, Cherish, Talon, and Kimberley.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband Jim Banta and son Rod Banta, her brothers Plummer, Forest, Lee and Ted Ong. Her sisters Leota, Leta, Neta, and grandson Steven Banta, grand daughter Nicole Banta Smith, and Jennifer Banta.
Darlene requested that there be no services held upon her death.
Mom, your loving concern for your family and ability to embrace others into your extended family is a legacy we learned from you. You will be greatly missed.
