Pocatello - Dale S. Hoskins, 76, longtime resident of Pocatello, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010 at his home following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He was born June 2, 1933 in Mackey, Idaho, a son of Mead Dillon and RoseMary Paul Hoskins.

When he was young, his family moved to Pocatello where he attended school. He joined the U.S. Navy when he was seventeen and served on the U.S. Navy destroyer U.S.S. Leonard F. Mason during the Korean War. On December 13, 1953, he married Shirley Pennington, in Yuma, Arizona. He was very civic minded and served in various service organizations including the Jaycees, (State President in 1965), Toastmasters Club, Mason's (32 Degree) and Shriners.

During his working years, he was self employed and managed his own trucking operation. He was a certified scuba diver and enjoyed scuba diving with his son, Kent. He also enjoyed boating and camping with his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Dale is survived by his wife, Shirley Hoskins, Pocatello, Idaho; a son, Kent (Sylvia) Hoskins, Idaho Falls, Idaho; a daughter, Lisa (Forrest) Richardson, Pocatello, Idaho; 3 grandchildren, Brandon (Melissa) Richardson, Pocatello, Idaho; Jennifer Hoskins Miller and Dominique Hoskins, both of Austin, Texas; 4 great-grandchildren a brother, Carl Hoskins, Boise, Idaho; He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and a son Cory.

It was Dale's wishes to be cremated. There will be a private memorial service at a later date. His family would like to extend a special thank you to Helping Hands Home Health for their kindness and loving care for our husband, father and grandfather. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave..
