Claudine Morris Edwards of Pocatello, Idaho passed away at a local care center on January 12, 2016 after an extended illness at the age of 84. She was born to Clyde C. and Edna Morris on March 17, 1931, the second of two daughters. She attended Pocatello schools and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1949. On October 10, 1952, she married Vance H. Burrup in Pocatello, and they had two children, Michael V. Burrup and Vauna Burrup. They were later divorced in October, 1965. In January of 1966, she married Howard Edwards in Billings, Montana, and they were married 35 years when he passed away in November, 2001. When she was growing up, Claudine and her older sister used to play house with all the neighbor children by dragging out all their dolls, buggies, kitchen cupboards, dishes, etc. and play for hours. Claudine used to ride on the back of Yvonne’s tricycle, go for rides in their doll buggy, and enjoyed riding in the back of their pedal truck with Yvonne doing the pedaling. The family used to take vacations in Yellowstone Park and always camped out in a tent. The Morris family also loved going camping and fishing on the Lost River near Arco, Idaho. Spending 26 years in the banking industry, Claudine worked at Idaho Bank and Trust in Pocatello and later worked at various banks and credit unions in Billings and Great Falls, Montana when Howard was transferred with his employer, Sweetheart Bread. Upon Howard’s retirement, they moved to Escondido, California in 1981 to escape the cold winters, and Claudine went to work as office manager of Santa Barbara Savings and Loan. She retired early to spend more time with Howard whose health was deteriorating. In May of 1999, Claudine and Howard moved back to Pocatello, and he resided in the Veteran’s Home until his death. Family members had encouraged Claudine to return to Pocatello where she would be closer to family and have their support. After Howard passed away, she continued to do volunteer work at the Veteran’s Home so she could continue to see the residents having some fun and smiling. Her family showed her much love and support over the years and invited her to ball games, rodeos, cook-outs, birthday parties, and many other activities that her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were participating in. She loved her family, and she loved their visits and being able to support them in any way that she could. She worked on committees for her class of ‘49 reunions and enjoyed their luncheons. For many years, she was treasurer of her Homeowners Association. She also joined a women’s club and helped on various committees. Claudine had also been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, #4, which helped the veterans, as well as sponsored high school girls attending Girls State. Preceding her in death are her parents, Clyde and Edna Morris, husband, Howard Edwards, and brother-in-law, Earl Brown. She is survived by son, Michael Burrup of Inkom, Idaho and his three daughters, Brandi (Eli) Townsend of Inkom, Idaho, Jamie Neal of Pocatello, Idaho, and Lyndsi (Stetson) Jensen of Thatcher, Idaho. She is also survived by her daughter, Vauna (Ralph) Wheatley of McCammon, Idaho and their five children, Nichole (Stan) Hales of McCammon, Idaho, Randy (Brittany) of McCammon, Idaho, Ryan (Haley) of Ft. Morgan, Colorado, Tyson (Melissa) of Pocatello, Idaho and Kristen of McCammon, Idaho. She is also survived by 20 great grandchildren.
