Claudia Kirkland Mickelsen Twin Falls, Idaho- Claudia K. Mickelsen, age 65, former long time resident of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007 following a valiant battle with cancer.

She was born June 22, 1942 in Salt Lake City,Utah, the daughter of Claude Douglas and Irene Arglye Kirkland. She graduated from Bountiful High School. She then attended B.Y.U. for two years.

She married Jay R.Mickelsen on Sept. 8, 1961 in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple.

She lived in Bountiful for two years, Logan, Utah for two years, then eleven years in Saginaw, Michigan, before moving to Pocatello in 1975. They moved to Twin Falls, Idaho for the last year to be by their daughter, Nyla Jensen. She was active in the L.D.S. Church and served in numerous callings. She particularly enjoyed serving with the Young Woman and in Relief Society. She was a past president and member of the Pocatello Music Club. She loved music, singing, attending plays, musicals, traveling and shopping. She greatly enjoyed her children and grand children. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by her husband, Jay R. Mickelsen, Twin Falls, Idaho; three sons, Todd K. (Tamara) Mickelsen, Lindon, Utah; Brett K. (Shannon) Mickelsen, Denver, Colorado; Kirk R. (Stacy) Mickelsen, Dillon, Colorado; one daughter, Nyla (Scott) Jensen, Twin Falls, Idaho; Two brothers, Boyd D. ( Barbara) Kirkland, Newhall, California; Brent A. (Mary Kay) Kirkland, Garland,Utah; two sisters, Ann (Rick) Newbold, Farmington, Utah; Marilyn (Victor) Castellano, Kaysville, Utah; 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter, Renate Mickelsen; a brother, Mark Kirkland.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 24, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Highland Stake Center 2140, Satterfield Drive, Pocatello, Idaho with Bishop Morgan Hatt, of the Highland First Ward officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, Sept. 23, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave., Pocatello, Idaho and on Monday from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Centerville,Utah Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Manning Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
