Clara M. Hill

Clara M. Hill, 83, of Pocatello passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 4, 2009. She was born January 10, 1926, in Corinne, Utah the daughter of Robert and Alta Anderson Holmes.

She attended schools in Ogden, Utah and graduated from Ogden High School. She married Lloyd B. Hill on April 12, 1945 in Long Beach, California. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on April 12, 1967. Lloyd passed away on May 14, 1983.

Clara worked in a grocery store and lived in California until 1958. They then returned to Ogden then later moved to Pocatello in 1962, where they made their home. She worked as a clerk at Albertson's for over 20 years and retired in 1984. She was a member of the L.D.S. Church and had served as a Young Woman's advisor in the YWMIA. She loved collecting porcelain dolls.

She greatly enjoyed being with her grandchildren and other children as they all called her Grandma. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

Clara is survived by her son, Lonn Hill, Salt Lake City, Utah; two daughters, Laura A. Hill Longshaw, Meridian, Idaho; Cheri (Thomas) Daniel, Pocatello, Idaho; daughter-in-law, Karen Hill, Pocatello, Idaho; one brother, Dean Holmes, Roy, Utah; one sister Elsie (Newt) Jackson, Cleveland, Georgia; eight grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Dannie Hill, two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the El Rancho L.D.S. Ward Chapel (300 E. Chapel Street) with Bishop Matt Schiffman officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N, 12th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho and on Thursday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the church. The family will also receive friends on Friday, July 10, 2009 at Lindquist Funeral Chapel, (3408 Washington Blvd), Ogden, Utah, from 12:00 Noon to 1:45 p,m. Interment will be in the Washington Heights Memorial Park, (4500 Washington Blvd.) Ogden, Utah.
