Charles (Chuck) E. Thomsen of McCammon, Idaho passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his family after a valiant battle with cancer. Chuck was born July 22, 1943 to George and Nora (McClure) Thomsen in Fallon, Nevada. He attended schools in Nevada and in Idaho.
He joined the Army and proudly served his country being honorably discharged in 1966. After his service, he worked at J.R. Simplot and later FMC where he retired from in 2002 because the plant closed. He then went to Phoenix to attend Motorcycle Mechanics Institute for 14 months. He enjoyed learning something new and received top scores.
Chuck was a fantastic welder and enjoyed making all kinds of different unique creations, his friends and family are grateful to have received many of them. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and time spent with his family and friends, most of all, time spent with his grandchildren.
Chuck is survived by his wife Joan (Martin) at the family home, two sons, Joel (Roni) and Brian (Traci), seven grandchildren, one great grandson, one sister, Mary Jane Stephanini, four step children, Bonnie (Don), Larry (Rhonda), Paula (Jim), Cretia and their families and five very special nieces and nephews and their families. He was proceeded in death by parents, brother, Norman, sons Bradley and David and one grandson, Drew.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 8 at 11:00 am at the Norton Cemetery in McCammon, Idaho. A small reception will be held at the family home after the service. All friends and family are invited to join us.
The family wishes to thank Encompass Hospice for their kindness and support. We are humbled by the care and compassion shown to us by all of you at Encompass Hospice and for making Chuck’s journey one of dignity and grace. The family suggests memorial donations to Pocatello Encompass Hospice, In memory Charles Thomsen, or Make-A-Wish-Idaho.
