Carol Daines Pugsley Pocatello- This is in memory of our dearly beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Carol D. Pugsley, 87, of Pocatello who passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Portneuf Medical Center from complications of recent surgery. She was born May 22, 1920, the daughter of LaVere H. and Maya Hurst Daines in Logan, Cache County, Utah. Carol was the only child of four daughters to survive infancy. She grew up in Logan and attended Cache Valley Schools. As a child, she loved to dance and ride horses. She sang in an accappella choir. She was Cache County Fair and Rodeo Queen in 1940. She met her future husband, Richard, at a church dance while attending Utah State University. They were married March 17, 1941 in Logan, Utah and later were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. After Richard's military service during WWII, they moved to Portland, Oregon, to attend the University of Oregon Dental School. After graduation, they moved to Pocatello, Idaho in 1951. Over the years, she enjoyed her daughters, was active in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, held several positions with Music Club, loved square dancing and traveling. She served in many church positions, as a temple worker at the Idaho Falls Temple in later years. In 1993-1994, she along with Richard served in the Nauvoo, Illinois Mission. After the mission, she served as counselor in the St. Anthony Branch Relief Society Presidency. She is survived by her husband, Richard LaMar Pugsley, to whom she had been married for 66 years; five daughters, Carol Gay (Robert) Knighton, Ogden, Utah; Loraine (Stephen) Carter, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Marilee (Jim) Lealos, Parks Falls, Wisconsin; Lynn (Kenneth) Bullock, McCammon, Idaho; Cindy (Steve) Carr, Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was a very happy grandmother of 16 grandchildren and great grandmother of 19. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 1, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pocatello L.D.S. 2nd Ward Chapel (135 S. 7th Ave.) with Bishop Kurt T.Payne officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, May 31, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and on Friday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will in the Logan City Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
