Bruce Evan Thomas was born in Pocatello, Idaho on August 11, 1936 to parents Glenn and Tessie (Hackworth) Thomas. He lived in Pocatello until relocating with his parents to Burbank, California, where he graduated from Burbank High School in 1954. Bruce honorably served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Brigham Young University.

Married to Junell Crandall in 1963, the couple moved to Los Angeles where they raised their family. Bruce worked for Hughes Aircraft for over 20 years, followed by a partnership with Sattel Technologies, where he specialized in developing and supplying long-distance telephone systems to third world countries and small communities.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bruce was called to many positions in his ward and stake. He and Junell served a full-time mission in the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Mission.

With family at his side, Bruce peacefully passed away July 29, 2016 at his home in Mesa, Arizona, just 22 days after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife, Junell, his children Terri, Glenn, Suzie, and Kathie, his son-in-laws, Richard and Steve, and his grandchildren, Colette and Cooper.

Graveside services will be held Friday August 5, 2016 at 10:00 am at Mountain View Cemetery, (53 West). Military Rites will be provided by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard. The family warmly invites friends and extended family for respects from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave.
