Boyd Crump

Boyd Warren Crump, 83, of Grants Pass, Oregon, and formerly of McCammon and Chubbuck, Idaho passed away 16 October, 2009. He passed away at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass after an extended illness.

Boyd was born 24 May 1926 in Robin, Idaho, to Merion and Ora Crump. He grew up in Robin and graduated from high school in nearby Arimo, Idaho, in 1944. On 6 April 1946, Boyd married Darline Tillotson in Malad, Idaho. They were sealed in the LDS Logan Utah Temple 11 August 1950. Darline passed away 7 June 2005.

Boyd was employed by the U.S. Department of Soil Conservation Service in Preston, Idaho, from 1949 to 1951. He then moved back to Robin, purchased a farm and lived and farmed there until he moved to McCammon, Idaho, in 1963. He drove trucks out of Pocatello, Idaho, for Meadow Gold Creamery for twelve years, Associated Foods for two years, and Garrett Freightlines from March 1964 until his retirement in January 1987. He was awarded a commendation by Garrett for over two million safe miles of long-haul trucking. Boyd and Darline moved to Chubbuck, Idaho, in 1983 and to Grants Pass in 1994.

Boyd enjoyed hunting and fishing in his earlier years. His life passion was his family.

He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Boyd is survived by three daughters and one son: Linda Garrison (Val), Gresham, OR, Karla Swim (David), Folsom, CA, Karen Hladky (Frank), Coquille, OR, and Jim Crump (Michele), Santa Maria, CA. He is also survived by one brother, Clifford (Carroll) Crump, Missoula, MT. Boyd has fifteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Boyd was preceded in death by his son, Danny Boyd Crump; three grandchildren, Adam Swim, Kandiss Hladky, and Miriam Hladky; three sisters, LaReda, Bernice, and Arvella, and one brother, Kenneth.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, 24 October 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the McCammon LDS Stake Center with Bishop Ivan Bullock of the McCammon Ward officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Norton Cemetery in McCammon, Idaho. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave., Pocatello, Idaho.
