Born the first of five children to James H. Ockey and Susan Viola Worthington on Oct. 4, 1926 in Nephi, Utah, Blanche Ockey “Dolly” Davis peacefully passed away on August 20, 2016 surrounded by her sweet husband and loving family.
Blanche, affectionately nicknamed Dolly, and her siblings grew up on their family farm in Nephi, Utah. She attended school at Juab High School where she was a cheerleader, played the flute, sang in choirs and trios and was active in many organizations. After graduation, she attended BYU, majoring in Home Economics. Dolly married John R.”Jack” Davis on Dec. 20, 1946 in the LDS Manti Temple. They immediately took up residency in Portland, Oregon where Jack was attending Dental school. They moved to Utah, Washington, California and eventually settled in Pocatello, Idaho in 1964. Dolly was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She had a unique ability to bring out the best in everyone and had countless lasting friendships. She loved being part of the Pocatello Literary Club and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Dolly was also an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held numerous positions of service, compassion and leadership. Her greatest joy was her family. Dolly is survived by her husband, seven children – Daniel (Cecilia) Davis, Pocatello: Allyn (Scott) Smith, Pocatello; Suzanne Davis, Salt Lake City; Julie (Eric) Hattabaugh, Bountiful, Utah; Elizabeth Evans, Ogden, Utah; Steven (Michelle) Davis, West Jordan, Utah; Polly (Farrell) Wheatley, Jerome, Idaho; 38 grandchildren and 68 great- grandchildren; brothers Jim and Steven Ockey and sister Janet Rigby. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Luana Green; son John T. Davis, and infant great grandson Gunner Wheatley. The family expresses their deep appreciation to the wonderful nurses and staff of Access Home Health and Hospice, Dr. Jordan Bailey, and Home Helpers for their kind and loving care to our sweet mother in her final days.
