Arthur Daniel West Pocatello- Arthur Daniel West, 91, a local Chiropractic Physician passed away Saturday, May 26, 2007 at a local care center following an illness. He was born in Pocatello, Idaho December 11, 1915 the son of Dr. Arthur Alfred and Alice Eliza James West. He grew up in Pocatello attending Emerson Elementary, Irving Jr. High and Pocatello High School. In 1930, he served in the Northwestern States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for two years and then went to Western States Chiropractic College in Portland,Oregon graduating in 1942, as a Doctor of Chiropractic. He married Etta Zelma Grow of Wanship, Utah March 20, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. He joined his father and brother in practice above the Cook Drug Store (Maag Drug) on West Center in September 1942. He practiced with his brother until 1961, then built a new clinic on North Arthur Ave. His son Dr. Darth G. West joined him in practice in 1971, He retired after fifty years of practice in September of 1992. He was elected as a trustee on the Pocatello School Board from 1964-76. He was on the Parks and Recreation Commission for three and a half years. He had a love of the Scouting Program serving as President of the Tendoy Council in 1949-51, and served in many other position for many years. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many callings. He was set apart by Ezra Taft Benson, in 1969 to serve as Bishop of the 10th Ward. He is survived by his wife, Etta West, Pocatello, Idaho and their five children, Dr. Darth G. (Michelle) West, Pocatello, Idaho; LorEtta (Frank) Hall, Hailey, Idaho; Carson (Joan) West, Las Vegas, Nevada; Arlen A. (Debra) West, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Arthur L. (Pam) West, Hailey, Idaho; 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Dr. Henry G. West; 6 sisters, Edna E. Hinkley, Florence Alice Orme, Della Marie Webster, Lucille Mary Ann Pack, Pearl Isabelle Henderson, and Ruby Elizabeth Arnett. The family wishes to thank all their many friends and neighbors for their love as well as Creek Side Hospice staff for their care during the last three months, and also The Gables Assisted Living and their staff for their love and support. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 2, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gibson Jack Ward Chapel, with Bishop Robert Frackrell officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, June 1, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N,. 12th Ave. and on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
