Pocatello- Aliene Kay Gonzales, 62, of Pocatello and formerly of American Falls passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Portneuf Medical Center following an illness.
She was born January 14, 1948, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest Alvin and Wilva Jeanetta Ames Martsching.
She attended schools in Pocatello and American Falls area. She last attended Highland High School.
She married Joe Merklein in Pocatello, Idaho. They were later divorced. She married Alfred Gonzales on Oct. 12, 1985 in Aberdeen, Idaho. He passed way April 30, 2005.
She loved art and painted with oils. She also liked ceramics and crocheting. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Rummy. She was a member of the Veterans Auxiliary. Aliene was a member of the L.D.S. Church.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lisa (Chris) Lilly, Kuwait; Janie (John) Rodriquez, Pocatello, Idaho; two sisters, Helen Fuentes, Pocatello; Jeanetta (Jerry) Medrud, Pocatello; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Memorial funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the American Falls Third Ward Chapel (650 Pocatello Ave., American Falls, Idaho) with Bishop Steven Tolman of the American Falls Third Ward officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave.
