Grants Pass, Oregon- John Henry Best, 91, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015 at his home.
He was born March 5, 1924, in Rebersburg, Pennsylvania, the son of Willis Franklin and Ethel Alice Meyer Best.
He married Betty Jean Best on Feb. 20, 1965. They are the parents of three sons, Gordon Davis, Larry A.(Peggy) Best, Bruce (Lisa) Best; one daughter, Nelda Jean Best (John) Peters. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren greatly.
He served in the U.S. Army. He is a Korea War Veteran. He received his bachelors degree from Michigan State University and his Master Degree in forestry from Oregon State University. He was a timber management assistant with the U.S. Forest Service. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean on October 4, 2012 and his son Bruce in March of 2015.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Grants Pass L.D.S. Stake Center (Williams Hwy.) The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Hawthorne Memorial Gardens with Military Rites provided by the Oregon Military Honors Guard.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave., Pocatello, Idaho. Local arrangements are under the care of Hull & Hull Funeral Home, Grants Pass, Oregon.
